Jason Loo
Jason (www.jasonloodesign.com), trained as a concept artist and industrial designer (Singapore), is someone who loves to learn and explore new territories. With a keen interest in performance and psychology, he hopes to incorporate these to create ground-breaking designs. He also enjoys animation and video games, and has made use of his skills to design toys and installations. He views most of his projects as stimulating puzzles which he challenges himself to learn, solve and also have fun at the same time.
All the artwork seen here is digital. Jason did most of the initial ideations using pencil on paper, and some other traditional ‘secret’ methods. During his down time, Jason likes to go to the zoo and enjoy a warm cup of tea, while sketching, of course!
Jason wanted to try his hands on animation projects that have potential for toy merchandise. He was also looking for a unique topic where he could totally go wild creating characters. The concept of Frankenstein monsters provided that creative space and also inspired many story variations.
Captain Goldbeard
One of the rulers of the seven seas, Captain Goldbeard belongs to the Gold faction, who are the only ones that own the Doubloons of the Dead. Along with their ship, the Lady Luck, Captain Goldbeard and his crew are on their way in search for the greatest treasure… the Heart of Ayre.
This project is intended to be a game concept that can also be translated into animation clips. Jason always wanted to create a pirate, so he decided to give it a shot.
Cinder
These concepts are based on a young adult science fiction novel, Cinder by Marissa Meyer. This story is loosely based on the classic fairytale Cinderella. Jason loves how the story depicts a cyberpunk Chinese Cinderella, and wanted to see if he could illustrate the unique combinations.
